Additional Projections in EOC Tilecache

Jun 6, 2016

The EOC Tilecache now supports additional projections through the WMTS interface: ETRS89 / LAEA Europe (EPSG:3035), WGS 84 / Pseudo-Mercator (EPSG:3857), WGS 84 / Antarctic Polar Stereographic (EPSG:3031), WGS 84 / Arctic Polar Stereographic (EPSG:3995). See the related links and WMTS Capabilities for details.

EOC Basemap Updated

Jun 1, 2016

The EOC Geoservice Basemap styles have been updated and improved. The 'basemap' and 'baseoverlay' layers now provide more details on large map scales, multilingual support, correct stacking (z-ordering) of roads and fixes that help to render the maps in different projections. Furthermore neutrally colored 'litemap' and 'liteoverlay' layers have been added for small scale data visualisations. The new basemap styles are written in CSS utilizing GeoServer z-ordering and multi-script support that has been developed by GeoSolutions on behalf of DLR.

GOME2 - Tropical Tropospheric Ozone

Apr 15, 2016

GOME-2 tropical tropospheric ozone has been added to the GOME-2 atmospheric dataset. The Tropospheric ozone is retrieved from the GOME-2 total ozone columns and cloud data using the convective cloud differential (CCD) method. The tropospheric ozone column represents the integrated ozone in the lowest 10 km. Monthly averaged data between 20° South and 20° North are available from GOME-2A and GOME-2B.

CORINE Land Cover 2000 and 2006

May 8, 2015

CORINE Land Cover data sets of 2000 and 2006 have been added to the EOC Geoservice in the form of derived raster data products. CORINE 2000 data is available in three resolutions: 100 m, 250 m and 1000 m. CORINE 2006 data is available in a 100 m resolution. Data access is provided through a WMS service.

MODIS Mosaic of Germany

Jun 23, 2014

MODIS (or Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer) is a key instrument aboard the Terra (EOS AM) and Aqua (EOS PM) satellites. Terra's orbit around the Earth is timed so that it passes from north to south across the equator in the morning, while Aqua passes south to north over the equator in the afternoon. Terra MODIS and Aqua MODIS are viewing the entire Earth's surface every 1 to 2 days, acquiring data in 36 spectral bands, or groups of wavelengths (see MODIS Technical Specifications). These data will improve our understanding of global dynamics and processes occurring on the land, in the oceans, and in the lower atmosphere. MODIS is playing a vital role in the development of validated, global, interactive Earth system models able to predict global change accurately enough to assist policy makers in making sound decisions concerning the protection of our environment (see MODIS link below as reference). This mosaic has been generated from TERRA and AQUA products between 30 Sept. to 03 Oct. 2011.

Extention of GOME-2 Products

May 28, 2014

The GOME-2 atmospheric dataset has been extended by daily and near real time SO2 products. In addition daily MetOp-AB products are now provided. All the data can also be accessed through the ATMOS-APP.

Update of Services

May 26, 2014

An extensive update of the services has been done recently. The GeoServer used has been updated to version 2.5 and is now providing WCS 2.0. The WCS 2.0 Earth Observation profile adds temporal support and complex coverage structural description to the base WCS 2.0 protocol, in addition with requiring that a number of other extension are supported (the base GeoServer WCS 2.0 module already supports all of those, such as subsetting and reprojection for example). We want to use this opportunity to thank GeoSolutions and EUMETSAT for the valuable collaboration and improvements provided.

Re-launch of EOC Geoservice Homepage

Oct 21, 2013

The EOC Geoservice Homepage has been re-launched in new design and now provides more convenient browsing. Details about context, plan, data access as well as use and restrictions are given on the "About" page. The new design of the "Services" page gives a better overview of available services and their capabilities. Major improvements have been made to the "Maps" page where more available data sets can be previewed. Please update your bookmarks and feeds accordingly, since a slight change in the URL has become necessary.

Access to GOME-2 data through the EOC Geoservice using the ATMOS-APP

Sep 12, 2013

The ATMOS-APP has been developed to access data of the Global Ozone Monitoring Experiment-2 (GOME-2). Daily and near real time (NRT) atmospheric products for the Eumetsat Ozone Satellite Application Facility (O3M-SAF) of the MetOp-A and MetOp-B missions can be visualized. Additionally, a combined product of both missions (MetOp-AB) is processed and accessible. For GOME details please refer to http://atmos.eoc.dlr.de/gome/.
